Travel Information for foreign participants:

Foreigners normally arrive at and leave Korea through Incheon International Airport (ICN, http://www.airport.or.kr/eng/airport/) and Gimpo International Airport (GMP, http://gimpo.airport.co.kr/eng/index.jsp).


From ICN to Daejeon using Shuttle Bus


- There is a shuttle bus service running directly between ICN and Daejeon from 06:20 to 22:40 at about a 30 to 60 minute interval. (Please search for "Daejeon" in http://www.airport.or.kr/airport/traffic/bus/busList.iia?flag=E&fake=1173492228694)


- Bus boarding: Bus Stop 9D in front of the arrival terminal

Ticket prices: 14,500 Won/person, one-way for standard bus, and 21,800 Won/person, one-way for deluxe bus (deluxe bus is recommended)

Tickets are sold inside the terminal or at a ticket booth near the bus stop.


- The bus ride takes about three to three and a half hours. There may be a short break at a highway rest area before getting to Daejeon. After the bus exits from highway and enters into Daejeon city area, you should get off at the 2nd stop near the Government Complex Building.


- From the Government Complex bus stop to Hotel Spapia:

Please take a taxi from the bus stop to Hotel Spapia, which will be a 5 to 10 minute ride.

The taxi fare will be about 4,000 Won.

From ICN to Daejeon using KTX (Korea Express Train)


- KTX runs from Seoul Train Station to Daejeon Train Station from 05:25 to 22:30 at about a 30 minute interval (http://www.korail.go.kr/2005/eng/index.html).


- From ICN to Seoul Train Station using Limousine Bus:

Bus boarding: Bus Stop 4A and 10D in front of the arrival terminal. (Make sure to take a bus to Seoul Train Station, not Yongsan Train Station.)

Ticket prices: 13,000 Won/person, one-way.

Tickets are sold inside the terminal or at a ticket booth near the bus stop.

It takes about an hour.


- From Seoul Train Station to Daejeon Train Station:

During weekdays, an advanced ticket reservation is not required. Just go to a ticket booth and ask a ticket to Daejeon.

Ticket prices: 21,500 Won/person, one-way for economic class and 30,100 Won/person, one-way for first class

It takes also about an hour.


- From Daejeon Train Station to Hotel Spapia:

There will be a line of taxi in front of Daejeon Train Station.

Please take a taxi to Hotel Spapia, which will be a 20 to 30 minute ride.

The taxi fare will be about 8,000 Won.

From GMP to Daejeon using KTX (Korea Express Train)

Ticket prices: about 1,000 Won/person, one-way.

It takes about an hour.

- For the return trip, KTX is recommended. LOC will reserve tickets for KTX (and for bus from Seoul Train Station to ICN for those who leave through ICN), unless instructed otherwise.


Miscellany:


- The distance between Hotel Spapia and National Fusion Research Center, workshop venue, is about 6 km. On April 5 and 6, LOC will arrange transportation and pick up foreign participants at hotel lobby.


- Visa:

Japanese nationals may enter Korea without a visa, but a verified return trip ticket may be asked. Chinese nationals will need a visa to enter Korea.
